Ugarit was a thriving city-state on the coast of present-day Syria, where over three thousand years ago one of humanity's first alphabets was born. Its name evokes a crossroads of cultures, trade and hospitality.
We carry that legacy to every table: recipes passed down through generations, spices of the Levant and the warmth of welcoming you home. For us, cooking is also telling a story.
Hani Sarkis
Ugarit is the vision of Hani Sarkis, forged between his Syrian roots and a desire to share the culinary authenticity of his homeland in Barcelona. Hani was born in Syria and moved to Barcelona with a passion to bring the flavours of his childhood to Europe.
At the origin of Ugarit lies his wish to open a door to genuine Syrian cuisine, made with fresh produce and a great deal of heart. After years immersed in the day-to-day of hospitality, Hani conceived Ugarit as a space where tradition and modernity embrace.
Dishes that evoke the aromas of the Levant while presented with simplicity, elegance and hospitality. So was born a restaurant that invites you to discover Syria without crossing the Mediterranean.
